Learn to Row -- Sunday August 24 |
|
Current and incoming St. Ignatius
College Prep students! Come
out to the Chicago Training Center site (where ICC will
row this fall) on the Chicago River
on Sunday, August 24, from 12:00 to
4:00 p.m. to learn what it's like to
row on a crew team!
During the session you will learn
the basic techniques of rowing, and
you will actually get out on the
water! We will have a
hospitality tent for you and your
parents to come and meet our coaches
and current team members and parents
who support the club.
Come out and give it a try!

ROWING AT THE CHICAGO
TRAINING CENTER |
|
A
new relationship with the
Chicago Training Center.
Chicago Training Center
(CTC) is a
nonprofit organization formed to
foster teamwork, discipline and
physical fitness through rowing
for at-risk youth in
Chicago.
Information is available at
www.chicagotrainingcenter.org.
The City of
Chicago
has granted CTC access to a fine
rowing site on the South Branch
of the Chicago River.
The site is on
Eleanor Street,
just west of the
Loomis Street
bridge.
CTC believes that
partnering with ICC will help it
to achieve its goals, and for
this reason has offered all of
our rowers membership in CTC as
peer mentors – if you will, big
brothers and sisters to other
CTC rowers.
As such, ICC rowers will
practice at the
Eleanor Street
site and will participate in
off-site activities with other
CTC members. We are currently
looking into qualifying these
activities for service hours
with St. Ignatius College Prep.
